This page explains exactly how the guidance on this site is produced, including the things we deliberately do not do. If any of it stops being true, this page changes first.

On baby health content

This is the part that matters most, so it goes first.

We do not diagnose, and we do not treat. No page here will tell you what is wrong with your baby, and no page will tell you to give a medicine or how much of it. Infant dosing is based on weight and age and belongs to your pediatrician or pharmacist, not to a website that has never met your child.

Every number comes from a named source. Temperatures, ages, weights, volumes, durations. If we could not find the figure in current guidance from a body like the American Academy of Pediatrics, the NHS, the WHO or the CDC, we do not print a figure. We would rather tell you we cannot say than give you a round number that sounds authoritative and is not.

Red flags come before explanation. On any page about a symptom, the signs that mean call someone now appear near the top, not buried under six paragraphs of background. A worried parent at three in the morning gets about thirty seconds of attention, and the emergency information has to be inside those thirty seconds.

Where guidance differs between countries, we say so. National health bodies genuinely disagree on some things. We name who says what instead of blending them into one confident sentence that nobody actually published.

On safe sleep we are not neutral. Every page that touches infant sleep states current AAP guidance plainly. Back, firm flat surface, their own sleep space, nothing else in it. Other practices exist and we will describe them honestly, but we will not present them as an equally weighted option.

None of this is medical advice, and it is not a substitute for your own clinician, who knows your baby history and can actually examine them. If you are worried right now, you do not need a reason that would satisfy anyone else. Call your pediatrician, your out-of-hours service, or your emergency number.

On gear

We do not run a test lab. We are not going to pretend otherwise. There is no crash sled here, no instrumented dummy, no durability rig. Sites that imply that kind of testing without doing it are lying to you about the one thing you are trusting them for.

What we do instead is read. Manufacturer manuals, published safety standards, recall notices and regulator guidance from bodies like the CPSC and NHTSA. Most of what actually goes wrong with baby gear is not a design failure. It is a harness routed wrong, a weight limit passed, a fold done with a child still in the seat, or a car seat installed at the wrong angle. Those failures are all documented, and the documentation is public and mostly unread.

We do not publish ranked product lists. No best-of-ten, no scores out of a hundred. A ranking implies a comparison we did not perform. What we publish is how a category works, what the specifications actually mean, which trade-offs are real, and which questions to ask before you spend the money. You do the choosing, better informed than you were.

We do not invent specifications, prices or awards. If a number matters, it comes from the manual or the standard, and we say where it came from so you can check it yourself.

Nothing on this site is for sale, and no manufacturer pays to appear here. There are no sponsored posts and no paid placements.

If retail or affiliate links are ever added, they will be disclosed on every page that carries them, before the first link and not in small print at the bottom. Adding them would not change what we recommend, because we do not recommend individual products in the first place. That is a large part of why the site is built this way.

Corrections
